“But incorrect ethnic depictions of a “black” Jesus can be seen in the Ethiopian Orthodox church, and South American Christians have utilized a Latino Jesus.” Why does the Black jesus have to be incorrectly depicted? You did not use that verbiage for any other depiction.

My main problem with the use of Voodoo is that is is portrayed as magic. The use of Voodoo in this film was very offensive, demeaning what is a beautiful and sacred religion. Magic is fine, the problem is when you call the sacred rights and rituals of a people Magic or witchcraft. The film had no real grounding in ANY of the practices of beliefs of voodoo, except for occasionally using some of the symbols for Loa (spirits). They just slapped some ignorant stereotypes together, threw in a Louisiana accent, and called it witchcraft.

Yea, I don’t know if the price would actually be $20, but regardless it wouldn’t be that much. And for those who can afford a passport (and to travel overseas) a little extra money shouldn’t be a big issue. But it is our constant obsession to purchase/make things cheaply that drives us to take risks and make choices that are unwise in the long-run.

Ridiculous – and honestly $20 more dollars would bump it up to $90 to renew your passport – that’s $9 dollars for every year your passport is valid – if you have enough money to leave the country with a passport, you have $9/year to spend on it!
